Pamela Denise Anderson (born July 1, 1967)[2][3][4] is a Canadian-American actress, model, and media personality. She is best known for her glamour modeling work in Playboy magazine and for her role as "C.J." Parker on the television series Baywatch (1992–1997).

Anderson came to public prominence after being selected as the February 1990 Playmate of the Month for Playboy magazine.[1] She went on to make regular appearances on the magazine's cover, holding the record for the most Playboy covers by any person.[5] Anderson became known to a wider audience in 1991 when she appeared on the ABC sitcom Home Improvement, playing the role of Lisa for its first two seasons. She gained international recognition for her starring role as "C.J." Parker on the action drama series Baywatch (1992–1997), further cementing her status as a sex symbol.[6] She played Vallery Irons on the syndicated series V.I.P. (1998–2002) and starred as Skyler Dayton on the Fox sitcom Stacked (2005–2006).

Anderson's film credits include Raw Justice (1994), Barb Wire (1996), Scary Movie 3 (2003), Superhero Movie, Blonde and Blonder (both 2008), The Institute, Baywatch (both 2017), and City Hunter (2018). Anderson has publicly supported various charitable causes, particularly animal rights, and has endorsed PETA activities.[7] She has also released three autobiographies and four novels. Anderson was the recipient of a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame in 2006.[8] She holds both American and Canadian citizenship.

Early life

Anderson was born in Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada, the daughter of Barry Anderson, a furnace repairman, and Carol, a waitress.[11] Her great-grandfather, Juho Hyytiäinen, was a Finnish native of Saarijärvi, and left the Grand Duchy of Finland (which was a part of the Russian Empire at the time) for Canada in 1908.[12] He changed his name to Anderson when he arrived as an immigrant. Anderson also has Volga German ancestry on her mother's side; her grandmother, ethnically German, was born in Russia in a Mennonite village and immigrated to Canada in 1901.[13][14][15] Anderson received press coverage right after her birth as a "Centennial Baby", having been born on July 1, 1967, the 100th anniversary of Canada's official founding via the Constitution Act, 1867.

Early life and education

Kimberly Noel Kardashian was born on October 21, 1980, in Los Angeles, California, to Robert and Kris Kardashian (née Houghton).[14] She has an older sister, Kourtney, a younger sister, Khloé, and a younger brother, Rob.[15] Their mother is of Dutch, English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry,[16] while their father was a third-generation Armenian-American.[17] In 1991, their parents divorced and their mother married Bruce Jenner,[a] the 1976 Summer Olympics decathlon winner.[19] As a result of her mother's remarriage, Kim Kardashian acquired step-brothers Burton "Burt", Brandon, and Brody; a step-sister, Casey; and later two half-sisters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

Kardashian attended Marymount High School, a Roman Catholic all-girls school in Los Angeles.[21] In 1994, her father represented football player O. J. Simpson during his murder trial. Simpson is Kardashian's godfather.[22] Kardashian's father died in 2003 of cancer.[23] In her teenage years, Kardashian was a close friend of Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton, through whom she first garnered media attention.[2][24] After totaling her car at age 16, her father agreed to buy her a new one on condition that she agree to be responsible for paying all expenses related to any future damages.[25] She subsequently began working at Body, a local clothing store in Encino, California, where she worked for four years, assisting in the opening of the Calabasas location.
